Little Fighter

17th October - Infection seems to have cleared for time being so they decided to reinsert longline and then take him back off ventilator. They've been attempting to reinsert longline since Thurs but with no success, poor little mites veins are too traumatised and after MANY attempts, 2 on Thurs, 2 on Fri, 2 on Sat and again on Sun, they decided they may possibly try and insert the line via a vein in his HEAD!!?? Obviously this idea went down like a lead balloon and Georgia was ready to pop him in her handbag and catch the bus home with him. After much 'discussion' (ABSOLUTELY NOT NO WAY ARE YOU GOING ANYWHERE NEAR HIS HEAD) it was decided that he should be taken to theatre and a line inserted into his neck and out through his chest - this was done this afternoon under general anaesthetic (with Georgia camped outside theatre doors) and all appears to have gone well :) Hopefully this means he should be able to come back off ventilator tomorrow morning. On a brighter note he's back up to 820g (1lb 13oz).
